to those of you who i promised pics soon, forget it! the internet has headache and is taking the pain out on me! otherwise things are good.
i do promise a full weekend account, everything from the dreary saturday where tasha and i dogged the drizzle and had a great time wandering and just being. to our beautiful sunday, swimming at the beach, lunch after seeing the veggie oil truck (and driver:)), boat and bus ride back (um, bus ride where Tasha stressed out enough for every other passenger to be completely docile:))
back to work monday was okay.
love and prayers to all!

A Bloggable moment...
Tasha and I snuck off to Plascencia this weekend, full account will come of all the adventures of two wayward hermanninns on the Hummingbird highway....
But as I was walking to the Bookstore this morning, I remembered something and it tickled me so hard I had to share - give all the AM giggle.
While on one of the buses Friday evening -Belmopan to Dangrigia - Tasha and I were sitting quietly crammed into a school bus bench together the guy in the seat across started to acting very unwell, asked for water, and then explained really bad acid reflux. Being true hermanninns we had some Tums. As Tasha was standing, riffling thought the backpack we were sharing, a kid several seats ahead jumped up, pulled down the window and spit.
...Funny thing was it flew back in the bus and GIANT luggie landed across Tasha’s shirt.
For those of you who known Tasha, know her luck, and um know her reactions this one was a mild, “KATIE GET IT OFF!” After I tried to hand the kid a hand sani and to clean it, Tahsa took responsibility and scrubbed the spitty… (just trying to prepare her for my departure:))
EEEK! If you think a Monday is bad and Friday is better…
Love and prayer to all!
Oh and after munching a few Tums our medial endeavor was a success too!

Rick report...
Word at this end of the information chain is that my dad’s installation:) went well. Apparently, only wrinkle was operating latter in the day then expected. Tasha and I spoke with my mom last night; she said he was a bit dazed, so she was spending the night at the hospital to protect him from the nurses:).
As far as I know, he will be coming home today.
Thank you all so so so so much for your prayers!
Um, as long as Tasha and I stay dry and warm we are wonderful! Humph, Belize a sunny tropical country, guess I should read the fine print:)!
Love and prayers to all!

Prayer for Papa por favor!
Hey just a quick request for prayers here. My dad is in the hospital and having a pace maker put in today at 2:45. He has been dragging a bit the last week, and the doctors have determined it is due to missing some beats. Apparently, the pace maker will get him in the groove though!
I spoke with my mom this morning, se said they use local anesthetic and he should be home within 24 hours.
I am back in Belize, arrived Saturday night… long story but I am back in benque.
I did discover the one way to instantaneously get fr dan and fr. Mark to smile for hours (um, it wasn’t show up:) just bring them a Big Mac and fries. After seeing their reaction, I think it is an unforgivable offence for anyone to come to belize without a sack of McDs.
I am slowly becoming settled for my final stint in the country. Spent yesterday moving. I know sounds like it is just what I do for fun these days, but there was a need.
I joke that I am staying at the convent, but not really. Or just staying in the guy volunteers backyard, but not really.
The three sisters live in half of a duplex, located in the boy volunteers backyard, the other half was rented by the mission for two girls while I was State side, one working on becoming a sister, the other still in school. Anyway there was an extra bedroom, so I have a great place to stay. I joke about were it is, but honestly the best situation ever. The house is in a quiet neighborhood, and I have my own room, seems like it has been a while. The house is nice too: two story concrete, three rooms upstairs and downstairs a kitchen (well sink and countertop) living room and bathroom. It would be the best place in the world with a frig!
The other two girls living there are incredible - very nice, fun, and early bedders!
That is my world for now. Please please please pray for my dad. He has such a big heart, so I know he will be okay, but some prayer insurance would be great!

Waitin' at Walbangers...

Well it hit, the Hermanninnnn Hamburger Hunger (or was it just the "get me some of them crispy fries," hummm…..)
Anyway, I have no doubts I belong in the family… a month couldn’t pass without me begging to go to Walbangers for a superb rare burger and some crispy curly fries, good times!
After class at the Cathedral mom and I cajoled my dad it was "maid's day out" as my mom likes to call it, so we were off for fine food!
Spent the rest of the afternoon trying to pull ends together…. Humph!
Love and prayers to all!

S.A. para me' no more:(
I did it! I officially (probably the one and only EVER) had a great day with a 5 A.M. wakeup, believe it or not I had a chipper day, I did!
After popping out of bed at 5 (well maybe that is an overstatement, the rest of this is 100% legitimate though), bit determined not to be caught in the last minute 6:30 rush, I was rip (thanks to a trip to the club yesterday:)), roaring (maybe a cheerful growl) and READY to go!
Dad and I hit the road, destination San Antonio (mom was off to Robstown as a judge for a 4H competition all day… she has so many skills it floors my mind!).
Dad took the first shift, I took the wheel with the help of the curse control for the second, and he sped in (well into traffic) for the last... a little tardy for the Dr., but there none the less. Our only wrinkle was missing one another in the weighting room. I ran to use the restroom and for some tea (a.k.a. caffeine) upon arrival and we vowed to meet in the weighting room at the end of his appointment. As it turned out, we both over looked one another and sat in the same area, although separated by the nurses station (so totally legitimate!), for about an hour. His gentle cough was my wake-up call to recognition…
After the Dr., we jetted over to Whole Foods for a quick tour. Just being in the building felt so good; we left with delightful TREATS - dairy free ginger cookie my all time most favorite thing ever and dairy-free truffles, so great!
After our tour of organics, we visited one of his dear and so sweet friends. All tucked in the truck; we cruised into a true Soul Food restaurant: full on with, "you buy it we fry it" painted across the front. It was a great place, like walking straight into the Deep South, server was awesome. The menu touted items such as pig, pork chops (I know piggy too), fried okra trout and yep, CRISPY fries! So, comfy and good company made for a first-class time!
Don’t even think the fruit and gas run out of the city would conclude a trip, but nope!
We went Rural with a trip to DQ - didn’t even know they had a ton of yummy slush choices. We then took a slight parallel detour through Whitsett to visit Cecil Wilson's, a porch that contains seasonal produce and honey with a system as simple as: grab the goods and deposit the danaro in the drop (a whole cut into the side of the house). Unfortunately, the porch was empty and although one sign tempted with prices another stated goods won't return until may:(… we sadly settled for pictures and the path…
That is all for now as you can tell I am overflowing with details, so maybe a bit of sleep is best. Gospel of John class in the AM, email any questions you would like me to ask this evening!
back to my biscotti and tea:)…

Lately… little bit of everything…
Okay I finally have to take a moment and get some things written, getting to the "too long since_ to tell all" phase so it will likely lack the typical tedious particulars.
Just a run down of the last couple of days and all the amazing things that have happened for those who like the chronological minute report, um are there any:)?
Tasha left for Dallas Thursday, so we wished her well with lunch at Hu Dat (um this was unfortunately after we had dropped her off, it was great tash Dad was back in the "Bs" :).
Friday my mom and I spent the morning at the fabric store, compiling all our exciting crafty ideas and ideals, it was a blast – we have such vision it was unreal! As you can see from the picture, we had a Port party that night. Caviar and split three mini bottles - a true taste test, cleared our pallets well. As I mentioned I am a tawny gal, ruby was too dry and whites a bit too sweet: I’m tawny!
Saturday was incredible!!!!!!!!!! We went to an ordination at the Cathedral, two priests, now: Fr. James Mulligan, S.O.L.T. and John Forbus, diocesan. Ordinations are so glorious, the choir, the prayers, the bishop, the first blessing – all around great!
Plus, this was incredible! Fr, John McHugh was there. I love Fr. John still smiling just from having seen him!
I also met and saw some really great people at the reception, just an all around affirming experience, sorry no more details on such a broad statement.
That night mom and I headed to the Corpus Christ Symphony, it was fun. So different from all of the performance I have been to since leaving for college – everywhere you turn you recognize someone, not a needle in a haystack her! The new performance hall is great – totally intimate feeling, great acoustics and the symphony played really well. All around impressive experience!
Sunday after our bacon and eggs, mom and I were off to San Antonio to visit the some of our great Medjorgie friends, we met them at the most tasteful, reverent and attentive Childrens mass I have been to, went out for a wonderful Italian lunch (Italian and I didn’t even get sick!) with all four kids (including new Ben, so beautiful and perfect) and not a single tear or argument. After lunch went back to their house, mom and Cathy visited, Mic knitted (mom taught her), Allie slept and Jeff and Jake and I watched the Fantastic Four. Surprisingly I really enjoyed it, a lot. Then back to C.C. - full day but so nice.
Now for my latest excitement - last night I went to a meeting at the S.O.L.T. College. I call it the Up-and-Coming Church Ladies group. But honestly it was a group of 15 C.C. girls, I mean "women" :) all just about my age (about 22-29) they meet every week at a different place (they had a priest visiting this week) and discuss good girl things. We talked about femininity in today's society. It was so neat to realize there are Corpus girls that have the same values and morals as me in the real world. You know have a drink but not dress like a tramp etc… Anyway I feel like I made friends - an all around wonderful experience.
Okay I best run and see if I can get this posted.
Tasha arrived back in Belize yesterday – I am due at 3:36 Saturday.
Dad and I our off to San Antonio at 6:30 tomorrow morning, Snikes!- Dad has a Dr. appt, and i'm ridding shot gun... wish me luck on on the early A.M.
Love and prayers to all!
I am going to see if I can coerce my papa to take go to the club with me:)

Epiphany on epiphany...
Wow, today has been a day to remember! First off happy epiphany!!!! I have had a super long one, it seems, humph half of it in the middle of the night in order to advert responsibility, I blame tossing Tasha, but we are probably equal culprits… I finally gave up and made a cup of sleepy time tea and surfed the web for graham cracker recipes:).
So enough with the mind-numbing details I will get to the good stuff!
I changed my return ticket!
I squeezed myself into a swim suit and swam a 3200 (for those of you non-swimmers that's over 2 miles, actually quite pathetic!)
Swam in a lane next to one of the most influential priests of my youth, random!
Decided on my future!
Oh, so now for the first time not enough details… I haven’t even said what I had for lunch :) (dahl bot – a traditional Nepali meal).
Now for the real details: return on the 21st. I still love swimming, oh yeah I still got it! And, I realized that it is not some major moral issue to go lap swimming, even if you have to leave your scapular on deck – um and then lose it and have it returned to you, by a priest, after the most spastic conversation, hey it's me - what can you expect!
And now I know to some of you this may seem very random and then to others of you a kind of duh! Right on! But, through much prayer and discernment I feel like I may be realizing where, when and how I can use my life to serve!
Where – C.C. Through numerous forms of affirmation I realize I really love my family and community, and would like to be close to help my parents (eventually, although now I am more of a frustration and annoyance – I have potential, I do!).
When – not to long from now.
How - as a firefighter (depending upon rigorous selection), in addition to working as a CCD teacher and an intercity "mission" church, as well as setting up a young adult group at my parish, and several other community involvement activities.
So that is it! I have my goals, now just a few, gulp, intermediately steps:), so PRAY FOR ME - Tasha too as she prepares to return to a country w/o a Katie contaminate for a few days!
Love and prayers to all!

R&R in Corpus, humph!
I feel like there should be so much to write, at least to keep all updated – prevent the future explosion - but the life of a happy homebody may not be too exciting to you movers and groovers….
I have been enjoying my parents to the fullest. Yesterday was filled with making lunch- pressed sandwiches, running to the athletic club and GOING TO THE MOVIES:) . I guess I should warn y'all to check my blog with care in the future – we saw (mom and Tasha and I) The Chronicles of Narnia, so depending on parental persuasion a picture of me as a lion, witch or some other creature may appear soon:).
Totally kidding but I do have to pass a bit of blame for the Geisha photo. I was just trying to quietly do an avocado/oatmeal facial and watch the Penn State/FSU game with my Dad when my mom broke out the red lipstick and Tasha was pinning me down and poking a fan and umbrella in my hands and taking pictures. Something like that:). Or... maybe I am just a youngest child and can't stop being goofy late at night especially when it makes me the center of attention….humph!
As if that late night stunt wasn’t enough, Tasha pulled me out of bed at 2 in the morning… somehow she convinced me I couldn’t sleep and then dragged me by my hair and finger nails (Ouch!) into the kitchen to open a bottle of Merlot and mess around on the computer until five in the morning… (Best to just take my word that that's how it happened:)) - My poor mom was bummed. First, she wasn’t invited to the "party" (as she likes to refer to the incident) and then we were both pretty useless during the day. My major accomplishments were baking yummy red snapper, vacuuming, going to mass and writing this blog:).
Okay watching UT win the Rose Bowl is a bit difficult through the reflection in the computer screen….
Love and prayers,
K.

no fear it's a NEW YEAR!
Maybe one of my new years resolutions should be to write more short messages, might take that one up tomorrow, but for now an, um, quick catch-up:).
Christmas was the best ever! Midnight mass was so glorious I thought I went to heaven instead of little Jesus coming to earth. Honest! The choir and instrumentals were great! Harp, organ, clarinet, brass, harpsichord, you name it all with the most incredible choir! Anyway there was no place better in the world then sitting in that pew with Tasha and my mom! We all slept in Christmas day, had a terrific breakfast at noon (even had real bacon!) took family photos, opened gifts and then ate again.
For those fellow foodies, we started with crisped wheat pitas with fresh garlic, humus, sliced veggies with olive oil and vinegar. Put my dad's masterful grilling skills to work on succulent grilled lamb chops, topped tomato and fresh mint vinaigrette, cherry tomatoes and baby onions squired on fresh rosemary branches, grilled herbed eggplant, steamed green beans with light orange and white wine sauce topped with toasted walnuts and orange zest, couscous with saffron strands and then finished with individual pear tartlets (it actually took me 3 days to finish mine stayed so fullJ). All food was kosher of course:)!
We ended the day celebrating the first night of Hanukah. Although it is now the last day, I am still not completely sure I understand why we are celebrating it, but it has been fun none the less. The Four of us sit down, say our prayers, light the menorah, and then open gifts. Our neighbor even brought over potato latke one night:).
Now I am even more convicted I want to marry a kosher Jew (maybe just for the selfish reason it would ease the pressure of creating dairy awareness).
Rhian and Lily stopped by on Monday. I love them both so much and know how lucky I have been to have such blessings in my life. Makes me miss the U.S. and all the contact I am able to have with those I love.
My birthday was great, except as my dear aunt blatantly put it the other day now I am closer to 30 then 20, Eeeek! Suddenly I really do feel a bit older. I guess I am just realizing how I thought I would have "everything" figured out by now. Oh well, it is nice to realize how much I have yet to discover:). Anyway Tasha, my mom and I went to mass at the cathedral (my mom had the mass celebrated for me) and then lunch with my dad. Raw oysters and rare grilled tuna with wasabi sauce.
I had a hair appointment in the afternoon. Nice glass of wine, scalp massage and then a great cut. I felt like a princess, and I was:)! Afterwards my mom and I snuck off to happy hour - icy Modelo and more raw oysters. I was in heaven all day. My family does such an incredible job making me feel loved, needed and cared for all the time. I don’t know why I have been so blessed!!!!
Anyway, next big even was Jason, Tasha's old crony coming to visit. It was so wonderful to see him, it has been several years. He is so easy to get along with, um except my parents do seem to show him a bit of favoritism:).
Saw Memoirs of a Geisha yesterday, interesting movie… I have my opinions on the glamorization of glorified prostitution, but it was a tremendous movie none the less…. I have to put that note in just in case Tasha reads this:).
As for New Years, figured today it was the first time since the 97/98 turnover that our family has all been together (my fault each year:(), we spent it with old neighbors at their new house. In past three days they caught over 60 sand trout, so in combination with a new Christmas fryer, it was a feast! Spent the night playing ping pong:) (just need to learn how to unlock my elbow and reach and I will have talent) and poker. It was awesome to be among friends and my family. The New Year has just been spent relaxing with the 'rents. Now all I have to do is resolutions – Eeek!
As always love and prayers to all!!!!!
I promise, now that I am update, my new leaf will be blogs that are interesting not just itineraries. May even try to let you all see my life more through my eyes and less through my stomach…food for thought?:)
2006 is going to be great - just wait!
