Painted Churches

Okay just a quick update on Corpus Christi life!
Spent yesterday on a Painted Churches tour with my mom… There many old, incredible churches around the Schulenburg area that were built about a hundred years ago by the Czechs, Germans and other immigrants - the Painted Churches.
The people were too poor for materials such as marble, stone and precious metals, so they painted wood. We saw four amazing churches all painted exquisitely (especially for the middle of no where Texas) to replicate fine images and materials… painted "marble" pillars, beautiful statues – carved and painted as well as great quaint structures. Anyway I had an incredible day in spite of waking up at 5 A.M.
The group of was incredible, about 50 people mostly fellow cathedral parishioners (I was the baby), the time on the bus allowed me catch up with my mom (she only arrived back Wednesday late night from 2 ½ weeks visiting Tasha in Belize), not to mention my mind was stretched to a whole new level from hammering out those darn addictive sadokus with my mom!
We had a great lunch at the Schulenburg smokehouse. I could eat the fluffy toasted white bread and cookies!!!!!! Afterwards we stopped at a bakery; they were not so dairy friendly, so I just horded my cookies. It was fun seeing all the beautiful pastries and Koloches (sorry no pictures…)!

Mummy on the bridge to the first church.
