Is June over...?

The torrential weather seems to be a sign that I can no longer neglect blogging… so let me see in the last month, yikes has it really been that long? What has been going on… hmmm…

My mom has gone and returned from Minnesota, and I was lady of the house for a few weeks. I think by the time my mom came home my dad was a little relived by the prospect of my Nazi demands being mitigated:)… rinse your glass, you're late for lunch, set the table… lucky, I escaped the inevitable backhand that would have come in a another week.

Honestly, I am only kidding we had a wonderful time together! Everything form going to baseball games, testing out new dishes and preparing for Tasha's arrival back last week (she beat my mom by 4 days). But it is nice to have the household complete even with additions.

Since Tasha has returned, we had a little sister time – shopping, getting her ears pierced, going "out" :)… and with her addiction to the world cup [which luckily proceeds the college world series that sucked me in. Good job OSU, the only team I would have thought of cheering for after Rice was eliminated.] We are just taking some good family time.
Last Wednesday was baseball night, grabbed some dinner and a 'rita at Brewster Street, the new place across the streee (it was good) and then on to cheer the hooks to yet another victory. There is a picture of Tasha and I there at the end.

And shucks before I forget, everything looks on schedule to start grad school at A&M Corpus Christi in August. I still need the counseling departments acceptance into their program, but not foreseeing any problems, say a prayer for me though.

And for this week… Friday I am off for MEXICO CITY! Yee haw! Jason will be my travel buddy. We will be back in Dallas the 17th. I am hoping to collect my things from storage, kidnap Tasha after her play-therapy workshop and u-hull back to corpus some time after the 20th.

We am off to Hu Dat for some tasty Vietnamese!

love and prayers to all!

where're the Hooks?

Let them eat cake!

Now for the other happenings the last month…. CAKE DECORATING! Prepare for picture overload:)! Last Tuesday "graduated" from Cake Decorating Course 1 at hobby lobby. It was a four week course (I thought it was one when I was signing up…humph!). Long story short… I loved the baking and the decorating, but I really see a lot of similarities between cake decorating and painting – PREP and CLEANUP! Ugh! If someone would just make all that darn butter cream icing, fill the little bags, and then clean the goop off everything I would be a happy embellisher! For now though I am ready for opportunities to test out my happy little 8" cake pan. (i think the only cake pic you are missing from my recent repertoire is a lemon-poppy seed).

Wonderful Weekend!

Here are a few pictures from my exciting weekend! Sorry they are in reverse chronological order, do your best to make sense. While my mom was in Arlington filling her mind with terrific sewing skills, my dad and I had a superb visitor – one of my best college friends, Rachel. Needless to say we packed everything we could into the weekend and had a blast doing it. I have been truly blessed with a wonderful family and great city, and terrific friends!

After mass we finished the day trip at Bob Hall Pier. The weather, water and company were perfect! We managed to drag ourselves home just in time to get showered to go out for a true Corpus Christi night on the town.

Mass at St. Andrews. you can see Bishop Carmondy in the entry. We were surprised to find out it was Msgr. McGettrick's 50th anniversary celebration.

Playin' with sugar. Making a tube of flavors for someone special. The shriporee was great! lots of food (SHRIMP!), tons of crafts and snack type vendors, four tents - one with a chief, one with music, one with everything from belly dancers to ventriloquists, and i can't remember the fourth, and lots of port-a-potties:)

At the Shrimporee in Aransas pass. Take a look at the block of ice in the background. we saw a chief turn it into a dolphin with a chain saw!

Saturday was a FULL day. We left for the Athletic Club in the morning for a spin class and didn't make it home all day... but had a blast. This was taken on the ferry between Port Aransas and Aransas pass. We had a little detour to avoid this ship.
